Job Description: Social Worker part-time position

 

Alexandria City Public School (ACPS) Adult Education program is seeking a part-time licensed social worker/therapist for a part-time position within the Adult Education Program for the 2023-2024 school year. An ideal candidate will have a background in school psychology or therapy, school social work or related field, trauma-informed care, clinical case management responsibilities, and previous experience working with adolescents and adults. Duties for this position would include, but are not limited to:

 

Direct support to students:

• Presenting the Social Emotional Learning (SEL) modules to classes
• Counseling (group, individuals)
• Developing intervention strategies to increase academic success
• Helping students develop appropriate social interaction skills
• Assisting with conflict resolution and anger management
• Providing trauma-focused individual counseling
• Providing crisis intervention to students in need

Qualifications:

 

Education:  Master’s degree in Social Work.

 

Certificates & Licenses:  Valid Virginia Department of Education license with an endorsement in Social Work, or eligibility to obtain one.

 

Key Competencies: Demonstrated sensitivity to the needs of individuals from diverse backgrounds. Bilingual preferred, not required

 

Approximately 3 days per week, 9:00 am – 1:00 pm, $46 an hour.

 

Clearances:

• Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance.
• Tuberculosis Skin Test.
