Description

 

The Building Engineer II ensures a sanitary, safe and comfortable facility for students, staff, and public; performs skilled and semiskilled work necessary for the safe and efficient operation of HVAC units and auxiliary equipment; ensures that assignments are completed in a proper and timely manner.

 

This position works 260 days/8hrs per day.

 

Qualifications

 

Education:

Certificates & Licenses: NIULPE 3rd Class, Maryland 1st or DC 6th Class Operating Engineers License and HVAC

Certification

 

Experience: Six (6) years of progressive experience with the operation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.

Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions

 

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; frequent climbing and balancing; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 10% sitting, 70% walking, and 20% standing. The job is performed under some temperature extremes and in some hazardous conditions.

 

This position is considered emergency essential and the employee will be required to report to work regardless of weather or school conditions.
